2018 New Year’s Greetings Trading Ford Family!
It is such a worn out saying but last year absolutely flew by. It’s a reminder to me that as time passes so does our life. Time is a precious commodity, many at the end of life long for just a little more of it but you can’t go to the store and buy it. But you can choose at the beginning of this New Year to make the most of what you do have. Redeem the time Paul told us- I believe that means make your time count. To help us get off to a good start we are going to have an expert in Biblical Time Management- Rick Grubbs speak for us on Sunday January 7th in our morning service. He and his wife have 12 children; with that kind of family they had to learn to make their time count. Rick has a daily program on the Bible Broadcasting Network- heard in this area on WHPE- 95.5 FM. We will receive a love offering for him- share generously.
We will also be having a different kind of gathering on the night of the 7th at 6:00pm. It is a meeting time (with food) that will allow us to discuss our discipleship programs and hear from some of the leaders of those programs. We are calling it Unity Night and we hope it catches on!
Another challenge I extend to you is make reading God’s Word a priority in 2018. Join me on the “Jesus Journey” as we read through the New Testament together. Pick up a readers guide so that we can all stay on the same page (literally) together. Have a desire to get more healthy in the New Year? You don’t have to spend money joining a gym, WE HAVE ONE! Melvin Lyerly has offered to open the gym up for us weekly (Each Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 9:00am) to come and walk together. The exercise will be great, and so will the fellowship.
And one more great opportunity…do you want to continue to grow and learn in 2018? Well if the answer is yes you should consider taking our course on American Sign Language (ASL) starting in January. The classes are going to be twice a month on Sunday afternoons at 4:30. The dates are (I will text them to you). Our hope it to be able to prepare ourselves to reach out to the deaf population in our area with the resources God has already given us, as well as developing more by offering this class. If you are interested please call the church office and Julia will pass it along to our team.
In closing, I have lots of things I hope to accomplish this coming year- vision for our future, projects to complete, and endless work to do. But in doing what we do as a church we must always remember why we do what we do. Our overarching vision is to “Help people find forgiveness and purpose in Jesus Christ”. And our motive- only one, to bring God glory. May that motive propel us to live our lives devoted to HIM in 2018.
