Summer Greetings to you Trading Ford Friends!
Have you seen anything recently that has just taken your breath away? I don’t mean some YouTube clip or a movie you just watched. No, I mean something in nature that just touched you deeply. There are lots of things that should if we take time to notice… sunrises, sunsets, and many other scenes of beauty. For me recently it was something that caught my attention as I rode up Interstate 85- it was an amazing field of sunflowers. There had to be 100s of them standing tall in their brilliant yellow and gold. As I soaked in their beauty I noticed that every flower, every single one, was turned to face the warm rays of the summer sun. How is it that the creator made these flowers with the ability to follow the sun as the hot days pass? In His wisdom He knew that they would need the life giving energy that only the sun can provide.
With that said- how can we miss the spiritual lesson? Our hearts and souls can be satisfied only as we stay turned to – not the sun, but the SON! Is Jesus the center of your every day? If not, take time to listen to his voice as you open His word, and after He speaks to you, pause to pour out your heart to him. I’m so glad He is always there to listen.
As we look forward to August, let me mention a couple of important upcoming dates. Our church cook out at the Seaford’s lake lot (6005 Goodman Lake Road, Salisbury) will be Sunday afternoon August the 6th. Come enjoy the fellowship starting at 3. The meal will be at 5- bring chips, drinks, desserts- the church will provide hot dogs and hamburgers and fixings. Our baptism will take place right after the meal. Be sure and let me know if you are interested in taking that important step of following Christ in baptism. MANY thanks to the Seaford’s for hosting us!
Also don’t forget this month is also the time that we vote on our budget, leadership and other important items. The projected date for that is a plenary meeting Wednesday the 23rd at 7pm. Then we expect a vote on those items proposed on the following Sunday the 27th. Looking ahead to September 23rd-26th, pray with me as we prepare for our Church Revitalization Weekend with Rev. Steve Sells.
As I close, don’t forget the lesson of the roadside flowers- KEEP YOUR FACE TURNED TOWARD THE SUN.
